We got engaged on February 14, 2019 at Polihalé, a remote beach on Kauai. It was the same date we had celebrated as our dating anniversary every year since we became a couple in 2013. That tradition had always meant a lot to us. Making it our engagement felt like the natural next step.
We almost did not make the trip. Washington was in the middle of Snowmageddon, and leaving felt uncertain. Hawaii has always been special to us. It is part of both of our childhoods.
We went to Polihalé for sunrise. The beach is hard to reach, but the light that morning was unforgettable. By the time Ninyo proposed, clouds had rolled in and rain was falling. He had kept the ring a secret for months. In the rain, he asked me to marry him, and I said yes.
We spent the rest of the day over dinner in Poipu, reliving memories from an earlier trip to Kauai. Polihalé is where we began our life as a newly engaged couple, on our way to becoming Mr. and Mrs. Aganon.

Our Story
They thought they first met at a froyo shop in Silverdale back in 2012. Unknowingly, they had already met at a hip-hop dance competition in downtown Bremerton, facing Manette, put on by Ninyo and his friends. They just did not connect the dots until later.
Their relationship officially began on Valentine's evening, February 14, 2013, on top of that Ferris wheel in Seattle. By 2020 they had been together more than seven years, and it had been nothing but amazing, built on everything they lived through side by side. They are still learning new things about each other, because they keep growing. They have come so far since 2012, through many chapters in life, and could not have done it without chasing their dreams together, with family and friends beside them.
